Ise Jingu Sankei Kippu vs. a Regular Ticket: When the Kintetsu Pass Actually Pays Off

Kintetsu sells the Ise Jingu Sankei Kippu as the obvious choice for a trip to Ise Shrine. The pass page doesn't show you the one number that actually decides it: a plain round-trip ticket is cheaper if all you're doing is Ise and back.

Where the ¥640 gap actually closes
The pass costs ¥640 more than just riding to Ise and back. That gap disappears the moment you use the free zone for anything else:
- One more train ride inside the Matsusaka–Kashikojima free zone (e.g., Ise-shi to Toba) would normally cost you an extra fare on a regular ticket. On the pass, it's free.
- The 3-day Mie Kotsu bus pass covers Ise, Futami, and Asama-area routes that you'd otherwise pay for individually — a single bus ride in the area often runs ¥300–500 one way.
- The Pearl Shuttle ticket (one ride, included) is a separate paid service on its own.
Pro tip
If your plan is "Ise Shrine, then straight back to Nagoya the same day," don't buy the pass — buy the round-trip ticket and save ¥640. The pass is built for people staying long enough to also see Toba or Futamiura.

- No — the fare and route described here is the Nagoya-origin version. Kintetsu sells a separate Kansai-origin version (from Osaka/Kyoto/Nara) at a different price, since the departure fare portion is different.
- Can I buy the pass on the day, or does it need advance booking?
- Kintetsu sells it at staffed ticket counters on the day of travel in Nagoya and other departure stations; it isn't a QR-code digital pass like the Kintetsu Rail Pass for overseas visitors. Confirm counter hours before you travel.
